Literate Liquors with Misty Massey – Episode 10 – Charlie, KickStarter, Cons and more!

So the lovely Misty Massey and I got together last week to chat about what’s going on in the world or writing, the world in general, and this little Kickstarter project she was marginally involved in. As always with me, the language is NSFW.

Also, if you’re anywhere in the Charlotte, Rock Hill or Gastonia areas next week don’t miss David & Faith signing books! They’ll be somewhere in Gastonia on Tuesday the 20th and at The Book Knack in Rock Hill on Wednesday the 21st! Come on out and say hi! There is a greater than zero possibility that I’ll be there hanging out at one of these events for at least a little while!

I also have a new release coming out next week on Tuesday the 20th, it’s the first in a new novella series for me, and here’s a little more about it –

Straight out of the pages of the legendary vampire novel Dracula comes a demon hunter for the modern world. Mina Murray and Jonathan Harker had a son. They named him Quincy. His guardian angel calls him Q. Dracula calls him nephew.

Demons call him The Reaper.

“There are things in this world that men and women aren’t meant to understand. We aren’t supposed to know these things exist, much less how to fight them. The things that go bump in the night, the monsters in the closet, the shadow out of the corner of your eye — that’s where I live.”

This exciting new series from the author of The Black Knight Chronicles and the Bubba the Monster Hunter short stories is a walk through the dark side, where things go bump in the night, and somebody has to bump back. Quincy Harker is that somebody.

Raising Hell CoverBecause I like to promote other people almost as much as myself, this ebook also includes a bonus free chapter to Daughters of Shadow and Blood – Book I: Yasamin by J. Matthew Saunders!

Raising Hell is available for pre-order now, and as you all know, that first couple of days of sales count a lot towards discoverability, so I’d appreciate any clicks you can give me!

And here’s a marketing note for all y’all out there just getting ready to release your first book on your own, or even with a small press – my buddy Matthew wasn’t shy – he just came up to me and said “we’re both doing Dracula spin-off books, why don’t we do some co-promotion?”

It made perfect sense, so I offered to put his first chapter in the back of my novella. It costs me exactly nothing, and hopefully gains him some exposure for what I’m sure will be an awesome series about Dracula’s wives. Matthew is a great writer with a rich, lyrical style, so I’m looking forward to reading more of his books, and hope that a few folks that pick up Raising Hell will also give it a shot. So here’s the moral of the story – don’t be afraid to ask people to help promote your work – you never know what will come of it!
