I TRULY APOLOGIZE FOR SUCKING

Share

This was supposed to be my day on here and I completely failed.
I have excuses (double anthology deadlines, looming overhaul/remodel of the tattoo shop I own, writing deadlines, tattoo appointments) but they’re no justified reason to have missed.
I apologize.

I will make it up to you like crazy next time.

Until then, here are some recommendations of things that can help you write:

THANKS BUT THIS ISN’T FOR US by Jessica Page Morrell.

In my opinion the BEST overall book about writing on the market today. I love this book. This book is why I am a published author today.

HOW TO WRITE MAGICAL WORDS by the Magical Words contributors.

A great compendium of advice. I mean seriously.

2K to 10K by Rachel Aaron

You’ve heard about it. It’s logic. It works.

STYLE THAT SIZZLES AND PACING FOR POWER by Jodie Renner

Great overview of punching up that manuscript. Lots of quick advice that gets to the point.

GOAL, MOTIVATION, AND CONFLICT by Deb Dixon

The heart of what story is. This is why you write, to explore these three things.

  • Great books, James! Thanks for the recommendations. Don’t worry, you totally don’t suck. You’re awesome. :)

    What Laura said! :)

  • Yeah, you should apologize! Miss my dang MW Friday fix… Just kiddin. 😉 And if I ever finally get my tat(s), I’ll make the trip, and bring friends. We may eventually need band tats after all…and after being pubbed I still need my quill and ink pot I promised myself I’d get. 😉 And thanks for the cool links. :)

  • wait wait wait! Tattoos I need new tattoos . . .

James, what they said. I have the second book on your list, even though it’s so hard to obtain. The others look great. I’m going to start with Thanks But This Isn’t for Us. Thanks for these recommendations. Good luck with all of those balls in the air (or, are they flaming torches?).

  • Di, come east to visit, and we’ll both go over and have James put art on us!
