It’s Saturday, March 5th, which means A.J. is in merry old England, and the rest of us are at StellarCon in High Point NC. I can’t tell you what the con was like; it hasn’t happened yet (at least, not as of the time I’m writing this), but I can tell you what we’ll all be doing throughout the day. By now Friday has already come and gone, so I’ll stick with the schedule for Saturday.
Our day begins with David and Ed (I’m going to refer to myself in the third person for this post, otherwise it will get confusing, Ed thinks) appearing on a panel at 10am about Effective Use of POV. Then at 11am, the whole gang will gather for the Magical Words panel. I’m sure it will be the highlight of the entire con.
After that we scatter somewhat. At 12pm Stuart has a Mr. Adventure podcasting panel. 12:30 is Ed’s time to do a reading. 1pm is Misty’s signing.
Ed’s signing is 2pm. Also at 2pm is Faith’s reading; and David, Stuart, and Misty appear together on a panel called Off With Their Heads. Sounds scary, so maybe missing it to do other things is in Ed’s and Faith’s best interests.
3pm Ed is on a panel about the challenges of writing that first novel. At the same time David has his reading, followed immediately by Stuart’s reading at 3:30.
At 4pm Stuart and Misty participate in the Quick Write while the rest of us take a little break. On the other hand, I think this looks like a prime opportunity for the rest of us to do a little heckling, which is of course the purest form of love one can express for one’s fellow writers.
5pm Faith and Ed appear together on the panel about making your hero as rotten as you can get away with, and at 5:30 Misty has her reading.
By 6pm we’re in the home stretch. Stuart and David share a panel about creating character depth, while Faith does a vampire panel.
At that point we’re done with our panels for the day, but everyone will head for the parlor where the Magical Words official book launch party will be held from 8pm until… well, until we get tired of partying and kick everyone into the hallway (at which point we have our own party).
I’m sure once the con is over, the rest of the crew will post their thoughts and feelings about the con from their perspective, so tune in later for that. Frankly, more than anything else I hope you’re not reading this because you’re at the con with us, experiencing it for yourself.
