Tell Us What You Want!

Hi folks,

We here at Magical Words are dedicated to providing you, our fabulous readers, with content both useful and entertaining. Our beloved Web Guy has posted a poll (See it? Over on the left?) for you to tell us what you’d like us to talk about in future columns. If you don’t see a subject that makes your heart race with anticipation, drop us a comment right here and tell us what we didn’t include.

We’re here for you. We’re just selfless like that. 😀 So go vote!

  • Alrighty then… There are a few things that I’ve been curious about. The pros and cons of using a pen-name is one. Yes? no? How things work if you do decide to use one… Another issue is how to come up with a title for a story when one doesn’t miraculously appear. Usually this isn’t a problem, but it’s been almost a year and I’m still using an unrelated working title. Does anyone have any words of wisdom concerning book title selection?
Thanks for the opportunity to ask! Might have more later… 😀

  • I like the pen name idea, J. I’ll be publishing my next book under a pseudonym, so maybe I’ll tackle that in a post sometime soon. Faith has written under a couple of different ‘nyms as well, so she’ll probably want to weigh in, too. As for book titles, I posted about that a few months ago. If you click on my name under categories, and then scroll back through the offerings a bit you’ll come to it. I believe it’s called “Gone With the Mighty Wind of a Midsummer Night’s Perfect Storm,” and it posted in April of this year.

I’d like to see more on promotion tips and action scenes. Also, a little more on devoloping magic and dialouge. Thank you!

  • DavidBCoe: Thank you for directing me to the post! I must have just missed it. I started lurking April 15th with Lynn Flewelling’s post, and I haven’t had much time to backtrack. (Yes, it’s taken me this long to get brave enough to join, and then actually post something. I’m still quaking in my boots! LOL)
Although when I click on the link it keeps sending me back to the home page. Maybe I’ll try again tomorrow when I’m more awake.

I’m in interested in reading some stuff about the mental state of characters.
    Like extroversion vs introversion.
As well, I remember reading something about how a character will always like themselves (even if they appear evil to most others) so when you write you have to think like that, but when you have depression or something similar, this is rather untrue.
Maybe because introversion and depression don’t really work for fantasy, I’ve rarely come across them in fantasy novels, and I was curious what fantasy authors thought about it.
